I have completed Row A and several blocks on Row B. This quilt is challenging, to say the least, but it is addictive! I finish a block and I immediately want to do another. It is fun, infuriating, intoxicating and soothing, all at the same time. Here are a few photos of my progress.

On to more blocks!Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13148086119912099188noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6644064172323276769.post-53710308995354105282019-05-28T07:29:00.000-04:002019-05-28T07:29:08.190-04:00Let's Go!I have not posted on this blog since 2016, but, I have decided to start it up again. I have really been doing a lot of quilting and spinning, and I even learned to weave, needle felt and greatly improved my hand piecing skills. I learned that needle felting is not something that I enjoy and weaving is fun, but not a passion for me the way quilting, knitting and spinning are. I guess you have to try something to know if it is for you.
I have made several quilts in the last few months and have really improved my quilting skills. I participated in a QAL on line that was strictly hand piecing, and I learned so much from that QAL! The saying "Practice Makes Perfect" is very true. Of course, the internet has made learning a new skill so much easier with YouTube, Google and lots of other ways to find what you need.
Many years ago, I attempted a Dear Jane quilt. I fell in love with Jane Stickley's beautiful quilt and like many others, I wanted to make one. That is easier said than done, believe me. Jane was nothing short of a pure genius, and her quilt proves that. I made about 6 or 8 blocks before I realized that I was in way over my head, and gave up. I still have my blocks and I look at them lovingly quite often. Recently, I started doing a little research on DJ and after much reading and contemplating, I have decided to try again.
So, I am going to record my progress on this blog as I begin my journey to completing a blue and white version of Dear Jane. I have the book by Brenda Papadakis, the computer software, which is at least 10 years old, and many new and helpful tools to make this project a bit easier. I have not started yet, but I am in the process of gathering the fabric, sorting the blocks and making sure that I have all the tools I need. I have decided to do it EPP. EPP was not available when I attempted this quilt the first time, but is now from an online store called Paper Pieces. There are also numerous videos on YouTube from Paper Pieces that help you sort the pieces for the blocks, learn how to EPP, if you don't already know how to do it, and basically learn all about DJ. I have ordered the templates for Row A and I am waiting for them to arrive. I hope to have all my fabrics and tools ready by the time my templates get here.
So, I would love it if you would take this wonderful journey with me and follow along as I make the blue and white version of Dear Jane.
til next time~~~Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13148086119912099188noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6644064172323276769.post-28615258331623642272016-11-22T11:02:00.000-05:002016-11-22T11:02:31.969-05:00TimeTime flies, doesn't it? It has been almost a year since I posted and I just can't believe it. I hope to revive this blog and do more posting about my family, my hobbies, and just life in general so stay tuned!Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13148086119912099188noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6644064172323276769.post-48813843839271412182016-01-01T08:24:00.000-05:002016-01-01T08:24:06.598-05:002016Today is January 1, 2016 and I have decided to make some necessary changes. 2015 was a very interesting year, and I am hoping that 2016 will be a happy, fun-filled and joyous year for my family! I want to re-design the blog, add some things and take away some things. I have really been testing recipes, knitting a lot and learning about knitting. I am trying to get my house ready to sell so that we can downsize and move to a smaller place. We had many things happen in 2015, some expected, some unexpected. Life has a way of doing that, doesn't it? When you least expect it....BOOM!
Here is hoping that 2016 will be our best year ever!Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13148086119912099188noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6644064172323276769.post-14928151138683012532015-01-21T16:37:00.001-05:002015-01-21T16:37:31.196-05:00FamilySadly, we begin 2015 with the passing of Randy's uncle, Carl. He was a wonderful, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, who lived to be 89 years old. He was well respected in his community and he will be missed.
On a lighter note, we spent last Saturday with little Miss Ansley and it was a wonderful, fun day. She showed me all her toys and we played with most of them. We had such a good time, and since Monday was her Daddy's birthday, we all went out to dinner.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKw0f7jOKUZ7vV7pemomjX5RZMwgWD3HH3qEfMbwItGCjQkJUYiFJroeG01gVKCb66ujknu-PwXU1m7KX3h2FfmQ2u1QpPRVcP-xS90M7z1DJdhfhMYT5g3By4Md_GowutdAOgftEWoY0/s1600/Fatz.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKw0f7jOKUZ7vV7pemomjX5RZMwgWD3HH3qEfMbwItGCjQkJUYiFJroeG01gVKCb66ujknu-PwXU1m7KX3h2FfmQ2u1QpPRVcP-xS90M7z1DJdhfhMYT5g3By4Md_GowutdAOgftEWoY0/s320/Fatz.jpg" /></a></div>
This is Poppy, Ansley and me at the restaurant. She was ready to go home. She was full and tired, as we were. It was a great tired though. The kind you really like.
We also found out last week that we are having a new baby this summer. Colin is going to have a little brother in June and we are all so excited!
This is Colin - making the announcement on Facebook!

Life has a way of just taking over, doesn't it? Sometimes, I feel that I am on a ride at an amusement park that will not stop, or even slow down. 2014 has not been a good year for me, but I am sure that 2015 is going to be a great year! We had many changes and happenings this year, and it boggles my mind when I look back at all of it.
I am going to start fresh in 2015, and really make some changes. Health, attitude, and most of all faith and family. These will be my focus for 2015. I hope to blog on a regular basis because I would like to share my progress, even though I know that no one actually reads my blog! I read it!
Happy New Year!
Let's make it our best!Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13148086119912099188noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6644064172323276769.post-26825107161372455192014-06-15T09:00:00.002-04:002014-06-15T09:00:48.292-04:00Happy Father's DayHappy Father's Day to all the wonderful Dads! I am making my sweetie's favorite, Cinnamon Rolls! We have new family member, his name is Elvis(which I am hoping to change, but he has had it since birth). He is an adorable 9 year old Shih Tzu that we adopted from rescue. He is just so sweet and so loving. He will be such a good addition to our family. Randy says he will be my "Therapy Dog". I believe that could be true! I am still working on the Secret Garden Project, but it is slow, because I am taking out almost as much as I am putting in. I can't get some of the colors as I want them, and I can't get some of the stitches to look as smooth as I would like. This project is very special to me and it is definitely testing my abilities as an embroiderer. I am working on another project for my children for Christmas, but can't reveal that here. I have been cooking and baking a lot, and that is therapy for me also. I really love doing it and the food is so delicious!
Anna will be here in another week. She is staying with us for a week while Brian is at camp. I am going to try and teach her to knit while she is here. I want to teach her all the sewing and needlework skills that I know. I did not have the Mother and Grandmother's who knitted and sewed, so I want to make sure that Anna and Addie have the opportunity to learn while they are young.

I wish that you could pick what you see on Facebook, but since you can't do that, the best thing is not to waste the time to look. I Love my family and my friends and I am very interested in their lives and what they are doing, but in order to see that, I have to go through all the other stupid stuff, so I just don't want to waste that time. I have been cleaning the garage with Randy and working on my Secret Embroidery Project. I am shocked at some of the things that I have found in the garage. Things I have been looking for upstairs, things that I forgot I even had and it is fun finding all these great surprises! Cleaning the garage is hard work, but I know that when it is finished, I will be better for it.
Well my cinnamon rolls were a big success! Not only did they look and smell beautiful, they were delicious! I have decided that I might be forced to make more today. They are Randy's most favorite dessert and I like 'em pretty good myself. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwZiwpDuf4SSie46fayiDE6NnfF3-0nhWlOWsbcg9d8pxJfQ9HaXJDqzzR-pYzbIOTzSCzAVt5Eh2_jRuMuJ8QOHid5tum66aFMLzXt2TYKLtiMkO7O3s-hktDYzMuJJD5gJWi6smEmxE/s1600/Cinnamon+Rolls.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwZiwpDuf4SSie46fayiDE6NnfF3-0nhWlOWsbcg9d8pxJfQ9HaXJDqzzR-pYzbIOTzSCzAVt5Eh2_jRuMuJ8QOHid5tum66aFMLzXt2TYKLtiMkO7O3s-hktDYzMuJJD5gJWi6smEmxE/s320/Cinnamon+Rolls.jpg" /></a></div>

I think it developed in my childhood when I had to take care of my brothers and keep my Dad organized. So, over the years it just grew into a monster that I can't keep from rearing its ugly head more often than I care to admit.
I have decided that in order to regain control of my life, I have to make some serious changes, and the first one is going to be social media. I have taken an indefinite break from all social media except this blog. I will post when I feel I have time, but that is the only thing I plan on doing. I will continue to have my iPhone, but will not have any social media apps on it. I want to go back to the person I used to be, who had a clean house, cooked lots of great food and spent many hours in the garden.
I also want to spend more time with my sweet and wonderful family. The only way to do that is to free up my time.
So, today is the beginning of a new lifestyle for me.

It has been a very busy day. I never run out of things to do. If I cleaned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, I still could not keep up with all that needs to be done, and I work a full time job! The gardens need trimming, the garage needs cleaning, the house needs dusting, and on and on! Oh well, it will all be here when I am dead and gone! I am seriously considering mixing a pitcher of pomegranate margaritas and heading for the playhouse! After the cinnamon rolls are baked, of course!

It has been a grueling week at work and I am glad to have some time off. I am going to do some cooking this weekend. I am hoping to make BBQ and to bake my Grandmother's Pineapple Upside Down cake. It is so delicious and I have not made it for years!
Hope to have a pretty quiet weekend for a change. We have been on the road constantly the last few weekends and I am ready for some R & R! I am going to take Mom out shopping and to lunch tomorrow. But other than that and church on Sunday, I hope to have a nice quiet weekend. I am hoping to work on my Secret Garden project and relax.

Mary and all the others are very far ahead of me, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. If you love embroidery, this a great project. Go over to the website and get all the instructions from Mary. I have the book and materials and I think I will be ready to start transferring the design by tomorrow or Saturday. I am not sure about my colors yet, but I love the way the Mary has done her leaves and vines.
I will post some photos along the way to let you know how I am doing.

We spent Saturday in Greenville for Ansley's 1st Birthday Party! I can't believe that little cutie is 1 year old! We had great food and a really nice afternoon with family.

After we returned to Atlanta, Randy and I made Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches and settled in and watched RED 2. Today, we went to breakfast with Tiffany, Parker and Colin. Colin loved the train in downtown Tucker. Our friends, Michael and Jenna own the best home cooking restaurant in Atlanta, Matthews Cafeteria. It is located on Main Street in downtown Tucker, and let me tell you, it is the best food anywhere!

Randy is gone to play golf now, and I am "piddlin", which is my most favorite thing in the world to do. Tonight we are BBQing and hanging out at home!
What a great weekend. Thank you to all of service men and women for making it possible for us to do these wonderful things because we are Americans. God Bless all of them!

I am not going to elaborate, except to say that I have been caring for my Mother and have had some pretty serious health issues, myself. I am going to try and get caught up over the next few days with updating the blog and downloading photos and various things. I need to do several serious updates.

With the exception of the California gang, we were all there. It was the most wonderful day! Richard made pizza and spaghetti and let me tell you that boy's cooking is awesome! He makes the best dishes and his pizza and spaghetti could easily rival any restaurant, including Olive Garden. He needs to open a restaurant! All the babies were there and it was so fun to see them all playing together and having fun. I think that I needed this day to make me realize how wonderful my life is and how all this health stuff is just a bump in the road. I am feeling so much better today about things. A visit to the Orthopedist has convinced me that I can get this back problem under control.
I have been doing so much knitting and I am seriously considering starting an embroidery project. I have seen one that I am just in love with and I am thinking I will give it a go!
I am also about make a needle book. If you are not familiar with them, they are handmade and they are for you embroidery needles and tools. They also make lovely gifts.

But, I guess what we actually are now is sleeted in. We have had non-stop sleet and freezing rain since Monday and everything is white. I am up late, as usual, since I can never sleep, and it has just started to snow a little while ago. The flakes are light and feathery, really pretty and delicate. That is what I really love to watch and if they are big and fat, even better. I have cooked enough food for about 10 people on a week camping trip, even though it is only Randy, Mom and me. I made chili, taco filling, salsa, vegetable beef soup and corn muffins and this morning Randy made a meatloaf for me and put it in the freezer. We have plenty of snacks and milk and bread and of course, coffee. So I think we will be good for the duration. Ivey sent me a picture of Ansley eating snow cream and she is so adorable...take a look:

Isn't she beautiful? Well, I might be a little prejudice.
Guess I better try and get some sleep. I was up last night until 4:30 am and only slept about 3 hours. I am seriously considering asking the DR to give me something.
Will post more later about the snow! I am really enjoying knitting socks and the KAL I have been doing with my Ravelry group. We are working on the VisionWalk for 2014 and it is going very well. I have been reading alot about Elizabeth Zimmerman and I am so loving this wonderful lady!
Good news from the doctor today, though we still have some issues to deal with. I am hoping to get all the health issues behind me in the next few months. If you pray, prayers are appreciated.

Sometimes I am such a procrastinator! I didn't procrastinate about blogging, but I do about tons of other stuff and then I get rushed and don't have time to blog! Oh well, I am trying to get myself organized, simplify my life, and try to enjoy more time with my family, especially my grandchildren. We all know that Rome was not built in a day, and all the things that I want to do won't be either! I had a pretty stressful 2013 and I am so hoping that 2014 will be a much better year! I have been knitting, a lot! and I have been doing Zentangle, though I am taking a break from drawing now. I have been doing alot of cooking and baking and we are getting geared up for this year's VisionWalk. It will be held on April 27, in Piedmont Park again and we are all looking forward to a fun-filled, family day with lots of people raising money and awareness of genetic eye diseases and the effect they have on families, especially children. I will post the link at the bottom of this post to volunteer to walk or to donate. All donations are appreciated! Brian is growing like a weed. He is 8 this year and almost as tall as I am. Here we are at Christmas!

I am doing OPAM again this year and I am excited! I want to finish much more than I did in 2014, and I am working on my TO-DO list, which is not that long, but needs some work for sure.

It's Friday!Finished the majority of my shopping today. Just need to pick up 1 or 2 more little things. I am happy! My socks for Ansley are going very well and I hope to have the first pair finished tonight and the second pair started. I have so much to do this weekend to get the house cleaned for Christmas. I am not expecting anyone, but I still want things to be clean. I have several knitting project started and in process and I am mailing off a swap package this weekend. Busy, as always. I think that Mom is doing a little better since the DR changed a couple of her meds and added some additional vitamins. I hope she continues to improve. I want to get back on our regular schedule. I like routine and structure and we have not had that for quite some time now.

That was the last time that I posted. My Mom's dementia is getting worse every day. I am amazed at how fast she has regressed. It is a full time job just taking care of her, and I still work full time. So, needless to say, I have been a little busy. But, I need outlets for my energy and creativity, little as there is, so I am going to try in January to start blogging at least once a week. Just to keep up with all my blogging friends and to feel sort of like a normal person.
The holidays are here and I have done very little decorating. As much as I love the season, I am just not inspired to go all out. We had Christmas with our children and grandchildren, 4 of the 5 anyway, this past weekend and it was the best weekend I have had in a very long time. Peaceful, noisy, friendly, warm and inviting. It was wonderful! All that we have left now, is company parties and hopefully they will be over this weekend. We will be home free after that. I think it will be a little sad on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day that it will only be the 3 of us, but we will make the best of it, and hopefully, get some needed rest.
I am off to start my day!
Take care~~~Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13148086119912099188noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6644064172323276769.post-54520272198294796682013-08-28T00:51:00.000-04:002013-08-28T00:51:16.221-04:00I Can't Believe It!I can't believe that it has been almost 2 months since I posted! Where did that time go? I just can't keep up, it seems. Work, home, Mom, grandchildren, just one thing after another. Ansley is almost 4 months old! She is so pretty. Anna is starting Pre-K next week and I can't believe that my baby girl is actually going to school. Brian is back in school, big 2nd grader and doing fabulous. Lucas and Colin are growing like weeds. Colin just got his 4th haircut! Michael moved to Sacramento into apartment with 3 roommates and is working for Direct TV and Benjamin is hanging out and being a comedian, something he is very good at.
That's the update for today!Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13148086119912099188noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6644064172323276769.post-572034857256144842013-07-03T07:40:00.000-04:002013-07-03T07:40:34.742-04:00Colin and Lucas - Super Cousins! We have Lucas this week, while his Mom and Dad are on vacation. He is so adorable. Never still a minute, but happy and healthy. He is 18 months old and so curious about everything. He is jabbering constantly, but only he can understand it. I have always felt that the time between 1 and 2 is the best time. The babies are independent, but always needing help, learning, discovering things around them and constantly changing. Poppy took him to play at the park with Colin. They are only 3 months apart and they are so sweet together. Colin has a laugh that is just contagious and he is always smiling. He got his 3rd, I think, haircut last week and this time he got a short boy cut. He is too cute for words. Here they are at the park:

Grandkids, the best thing that ever happened to Grandparents! I think they are God's reward to us for working hard and raising our families!Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13148086119912099188noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6644064172323276769.post-47238054794151349472013-06-23T08:27:00.000-04:002013-06-23T08:27:15.560-04:00Where Did June Go?Is it really June 23? I can't believe it is! Isn't it funny how time passes and you are left wondering where you were during that time? That's how I feel most of the time. Work, home, responsibilities, they all keep you in a whirlwind of activity and the days just fly by and you are hanging on for dear life, just to keep up. Here in Atlanta, I think that we skipped spring altogether and went straight to summer. The weather has been unusually odd the last couple of years. We didn't have any really cold weather this winter and now we have gone to the 80's and 90's like a bullet.
Haven't had time to do the Dare over at The Bright Owl, but I like the one she has posted this week, so I am going to try and get it done. I have been drawing some, not as much as I would like, but I do get some in. I am also knitting a blanket for Ansley and I have a pair of socks that I just finished, which I need to post on OPAM.
Mom has been having numerous health issues and we have been running to the doctor. It just seems to be one thing after another with her. I guess that is how it is sometimes. I never know from one day to the next how she is going to feel or what the day will hold. Working at home 3 days a week does lighten that load. I can take care of her and still get my work done. I work for the best company on the planet and I am very blessed.Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13148086119912099188noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6644064172323276769.post-38898155849682278562013-05-30T05:41:00.000-04:002013-05-30T05:41:31.451-04:00Ansley!Sweet Baby Ansley!

What a joy she is!
Did not do the Dare over at The Bright Owl this week. Sometimes, time just does not permit me to do the things that I would like to do. Busy week with work and Mom. Every day is different with her. I just never know what the day will bring until it happens. Working at home has definitely made a big difference and I am thinking that I should consider working at home all the time. The problem with that is I have things that must be done at the office. Oh well, I guess I will jump off that bridge when I get to it!Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13148086119912099188noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6644064172323276769.post-620025456571028822013-05-29T01:29:00.000-04:002013-05-29T01:29:40.579-04:00AnsleyCory and Ivey took her to the doctor today and she weighs 7 pounds 8 ounces! She has gained a pound in a little over a week! She is growing like a weed!
We are so proud of her!Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13148086119912099188noreply@blogger.com0
